Active Release Techniques® (ART®) is a patented, hands-on soft tissue treatment system that allows us to resolve even the toughest muscle, tendon, or ligament injuries without drugs or surgeries. This approach quickly alleviates pain and restores function, ensuring fuller, faster recovery compared to traditional therapy methods. It is highly effective in alleviating headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, tennis elbow, and more.
Certified ART care at Hosmer Chiropractic Health
A person can only become an ART Certified Provider after taking a course from ART. There are only a few providers in the Portland-metro area, including Hosmer Chiropractic Health founder Seth Hosmer. He is a full-body certified ART provider and former instructor, having completed extensive training and certification in ART for the entire body.
How ART works
Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment.
- Diagnosis. We use our hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and relative movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves, continuing until the provider determines the root cause of a condition.
- Treatment. Once identified, the condition is targeted by one or more ART treatment protocols, each combining precise touch with specific patient movements to restore proper function and relieve pain.
- Relief. Because the ART system is unique, the results are uncommon. There are no known side effects, and most conditions, including strains, sprains, and other musculoskeletal disorders, are resolved in just five or fewer treatment sessions.
Benefits of ART
- Rapid pain relief. ART effectively targets and treats soft tissue injuries, providing quick relief from pain caused by conditions like muscle strains, tendinitis, and repetitive strain injuries.
- Improved mobility and flexibility. By breaking down scar tissue and adhesions, ART enhances the range of motion and flexibility in the affected areas, leading to better overall movement and function.
- Faster recovery. ART promotes quicker recovery from injuries by improving blood flow and reducing inflammation, helping tissues heal more efficiently.
- Enhanced Athletic Performance. For athletes, ART can reduce the risk of injury, improve performance, and aid in faster recovery times by maintaining optimal muscle and joint function.
- Non-invasive treatment. ART is a manual therapy technique that does not require surgery or medication, making it a safe and natural option for managing and treating various musculoskeletal conditions.
